Missions & Outreach

Jesus told His disciples that they would tell of who He is and what He has done “…in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We believe followers of Jesus are called to that same mission today. At Lakewood Way, we are passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus and the good news of His Kingdom in our Jerusalem (the communities in which we live), in our Judea and Samaria (our state and throughout the country), and to the ends of the earth (all over the globe). Below you will find many of the ways we strive to be faith to the mission Jesus gave us.

Our Missionaries

Global Missions
Operation Christmas Child

More than 125 million gift-filled shoeboxes have been given to kids in over 130 countries around the world since Operation Christmas Child began in 1993. These gifts bring joy and hope to needy children around the world – all through shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.

CHOG Trafficklight
For a hundred years, the Church of God has defended the defenseless through the ministry of the Shelter in Cuttack, India. CHOG TraffickLight is bringing into partnership the next generation of individuals and organizations rescuing and providing safe harbor to victims of sex trafficking. From the streets of Berlin to the strip clubs of Muncie, Indiana our church is being called to action, to proclaim freedom, to love justice, and to fight for the oppressed.
Pink Door – Berlin, Germany

Pink Door is a faith-based not-for-profit organization that provides a long-term recovery program for women transitioning our of prostitution, sexual enslavement, or sexual exploitation. Through personal empowerment, restoration, advocacy and personal connections, these women can be rescued and restored. Every Easter Sunday, Lakewood Way wears Pink Door t-shirts that help fund this life-changing ministry.

Children of Promise
Children of Promise is a child sponsorship program serving children in 29 countries by providing nutrition (food), education (school supplies, uniforms, fees, etc.), health care, and spiritual nurture for those living in poverty. Many of our Lakewood Way family sponsor children, and as a church, we sponsor 3 children through this amazing ministry.
Local Missions
Community Blood Center
We have a great facility in a great location we are always looking for ways to bless the community with it. Every 3-4 months, we partner with the Community Blood Center to host a blood drive. We love being able to give the gift of life and encourage everyone who is able to partner with us and make a much-needed donation.
Hillcrest Transitional Housing
Hillcrest Transitional Housing is a Christian environment which helps homeless families become self-supportive, self-reliant contributors to society. By providing “a hand up not a handout,” Hillcrest is able to move their clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days by addressing the total life situation of the people they serve. Lakewood Way sponsors an apartment, serves in the thrift store, and supports Hillcrest financially.
Mother’s Refuge
Mother’s Refuge is a local ministry that provides a safe home for teenage mothers and their babies. Each resident must complete her high school degree, obtain a GED, or attend college/technical school. Mother’s Refuge teaches life skills and nutritional education, as well as parenting classes and spiritual growth. We support this ministry by providing baby showers for the young women, donating supplies, and volunteering in many ways.
School Supply Giveaway
Every summer, Lakewood Way shows the love of Christ by collecting and distributing school supplies. We want to help empower the boys and girls in the communities around us who need a helping hand. What a blessing it is to know that students in need have the necessary supplies when the first bell rings! Be sure to check back in the early summer for a list of needed school supplies.
